Jars of this shape were common in ancient Casas Grandes in northern Chihuahua Mexico, this unique pot was coiled and painted with all natural clays and minerals then fired outdoors with mesquite wood. It is painted in a non-traditional design. 11 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ x 5 3/4″.

Description

This is an unusual form that was common at Casas Grandes in ancient times, painted in a non-traditional design. Hand coiled with natural clay and painted with all natural mineral pigments then fired in an open, outdoor fire. This was made as part of the “Ancient Pottery Challenge” and as such the making can be watched on YouTube. 11 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ x 5 3/4″
