Description
This is a replica of a prehistoric jar that was sold at Bonhams Auction for $4000, the original is 11″ x 8 1/4″. My replica was made slightly different, the size is 14″ x 9 3/4″ and there are a few differences in the painting. It was made using hand collected clays and minerals from Arizona and New Mexico, formed using the traditional coil and scrape method and was fired outside at a public demonstration at Steam Pump Ranch in Oro Valley, Arizona in February, 2020.
Four Mile Polychrome is a type or “White Mountain Red Ware” that was made in the White Mountain area of Arizona near present day Show Low, Arizona between 1320 and 1400 AD.
